As Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his three-day France visit on Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron personally came to see him off as he emplaned for Washington.
Pictures have emerged from Prime Minister Modi and the French President’s last meeting at the Marseille airport in Marignane. In the pictures, both the leaders were all smiles as they shook hands near PM Modi’s aircraft waiting to take him to the United States for his second leg of his two nation-visit.
In yet another special gesture, the duo exchanged a warm hug before PM Modi got on the plane. PM Modi was also seen doing “namaste” gesture as he looked towards Macron from plane, reflecting strong bonds between the two nations.
Taking to X, PM Modi expressed gratitude to Macron and the people of France.
PM Modi tweeted,” Thank you France! A productive visit concludes, where I attended programmes ranging from AI, commerce, energy and cultural linkages. Gratitude to President @EmmanuelMacron and the people of France(sic).”
PM Modi departed for the US to meet President Donald Trump after wrapping his visit to France where he co-chaired the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit alongside Macron with whom he also held bilateral discussions.
In France, during the bilateral talks, Modi and Macron on Wednesday called for enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries and committed to further deepening their engagement in the Indo-Pacific and various global forums and initiatives.
Modi and Macron jointly inaugurated India’s new consulate in France’s Marseille.
In Marseille, a huge crowd of Indian diaspora gathered to see the PM as he interacted with them along the French President.
Macron shared the video of interaction of Indian community members with them, on X, with a caption that read, “Our friendship in Marseille, @NarendraModi! (sic).”
On Tuesday, PM Modi co-chaired the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and addressed the 14th India-France CEOs Forum in Paris.
During his France visit, Modi also met US Vice President JD Vance and his Indian-origin wife along with their two young sons.
