Delhi’s Budget Session will run from March 24-28, with CM Rekha Gupta presenting the 2025-26 budget on March 25, likely focusing on women’s safety, education, healthcare, and Yamuna cleaning.

The Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly is set to commence on March 24 and last until March 28. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will present the Delhi Budget 2025-26 on March 25.
According to a bulletin issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the budget will be discussed on March 26 and is likely to be passed on March 27.
For transaction of business, Speaker Vijender Gupta has scheduled sittings on March 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 besides issuing fresh guidelines for issuing Visitors’ Gallery Passes.
DELHI CM REKHA GUPTA CHAIRS MEETINGS, HOLDS DISCUSSIONS
Ahead of the Delhi Budget Session, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has already chaired a series of meetings, including with women’s groups, to address key issues concerning women’s safety, financial assistance, education and infrastructure.
As part of these consultations, she also interacted with private school associations and trade bodies to gather inputs for the ‘Viksit Delhi Budget’ set to be presented between March 24 and 26.
Gupta led a detailed discussion with women’s groups during the ‘Mahila Samvad’ at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, where the participants voiced concerns about security, financial empowerment, better educational opportunities, installation of CCTV cameras and access to sanitation facilities.
She assured that their feedback would be taken into account in the budget.
Following her meeting with private school associations, Gupta stressed the government’s commitment to bridging the gap between private and government schools.
The Chief Minister also met with trade organisations at the Delhi Secretariat to seek their inputs and announced plans to visit slum areas over the next three days to interact directly with women and youth.
EXPECTATIONS FROM DELHI BUDGET 2025
Drawing hints from the meetings and discussions held by the Delhi Chief Minister, the Delhi Budget is likely to focus on many key areas, including the cleaning of River Yamuna.
Gupta is also likely to prioritise senior citizen welfare, healthcare, providing affordable food to the underprivileged, transport, education, and fulfilling commitments to other public welfare programs.
On the welfare of women, the Delhi Budget is likely to focus on financial empowerment, better security, sanitation facilities, and the installation of CCTV cameras wherever necessary.
On March 3, Chief Minister Gupta outlined that “financial assistance for women, expansion of health services, promoting public transport, reducing pollution, cleaning the Yamuna, employment, welfare of senior citizens, and other important issues were part of our manifesto.”
“Our aim now is to take into account the priorities of the people of Delhi and prepare the budget outline accordingly,” she had said.
Later, the Chamber of Trade and Industry also made several recommendations, including converting industrial areas such as Bawana, Bhorgarh, Jhilmil, and Badli from leasehold to freehold.
REVIVAL OF QUESTION HOUR, PRACTICE OF SPECIAL MENTION EXPECTED
According to the bulletin, the practices of Question Hour and Private Members’ resolutions, that were discontinued under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government since 2015, are expected to be revived.
The practice of Special Mention under Rule 280 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business will also be restarted, as indicated in the bulletin.
Members who want to raise matters under Rule 280 may give notice of the same by 5 pm on the working day preceding the date of sitting on which the matter is proposed to be raised.
Additionally, balloting for fixing inter-se priority for the first 10 notices will be held in the room of the Secretary, Legislative Assembly at 9.30 am on the day which it is proposed to be raised, it stated.
