A video of Indian cricketer Jitesh Sharma being stopped by a security guard and left waiting outside a stadium has gone viral on social media, sparking surprise and debate among fans.

In the clip, Sharma is seen standing among the crowd after allegedly being denied entry, until fellow cricketer Dinesh Karthik appears and seemingly helps him get in.

The incident, captured at Lord’s during the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, quickly gained traction online. However, Dinesh Karthik later clarified that the narrative was misleading, stating he had called Sharma to the commentary box himself.

Who Is Jitesh Sharma?

Jitesh Sharma, born on October 22, 1993 in Amravati, Maharashtra, is a right-handed wicketkeeper batter playing domestic cricket for Vidarbha. Debuting in the Ranji Trophy in 2015-16, he was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL in 2016-17 but did not play.

The 32-year-old, who later played for Punjab Kings in 2022, 2023, and 2024, was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the mega auction after three impressive seasons. Punjab Kings played a crucial role in RCB’s first IPL trophy win.

Jitesh Sharma’s successful IPL seasons led to his selection in the Indian team after his debut in 2023. He played his first international match in the Asian Games against Nepal on 3 October 2023, scoring 100 runs in nine matches with a strike rate of 147.05.
