On the second day, India A, resuming at 319/7, were dismissed for 348 in their first innings. However, fifties from Tom Haines (54 off 88 balls) and Emilio Gay (71 off 117 balls) helped the Lions reduce the deficit to 156 runs before play was called off early due to bad light.
Pace bowling all-rounders Shardul Thakur and Nitish Kumar Reddy continued to underperform and went wicketless as Haines and Gay capitalised on a struggling India A attack to score their respective fifties.
Haines and Gay added 94 runs for the second wicket in just 128 balls, highlighting the difficulties faced by India A’s bowlers. Spinner Tanush Kotian, however, was impressive, frequently drawing false shots from the batters and ultimately dismissing Gay, who seemed poised for a hundred.
Jordan Cox (31 not out), who partnered with Gay to add 69 runs for the third wicket, appeared well-set to dominate the conditions and bowlers on the third day. Pacer Anshul Kamboj was sharp once again, picking up the early wicket of opener Ben McKinney.
