The explosive Australian batter who is currently competing in the Indian Premier League 2025, Travis Head, was put under the pump for a rapid-fire segment as part of an exclusive interview by CNN-News18’s CricketNext.
In the exclusive interview, Head was asked to pick between India and England as his favourite opponent, and the Aussie did not even hesitate when he picked the Rohit Sharma-led side.
Head has been a thorn for Indian cricket, having played key roles in Australia’s wins over India across formats. He started off with the World Test Championship for the 2021-23 cycle, where he smashed 159 to lead the Aussies to their first victory in the summit clash at the Oval.
In addition, he also played a big role in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, which was held in Ahmedabad, where the southpaw smashed a whopping 137 runs in 120 balls to shut down any chances of the Men in Blue taking the victory at their home ground.
The 31-year-old also played a key role in ending Australia’s decade-long wait for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series as he finished as the series’ leading run-scorer with 448 runs, which had two centuries and one fifty, with his best knock coming in Brisbane where he scored 152.
Over the past few years, the rivalry between India and Australia has been an even contest with the Aussies being put to the test in both home and away conditions.
He has also taken the IPL by storm since coming into the Sunrisers Hyderabad setup, where he finished as the fourth highest run-scorer in the season with 567 runs from the 15 games played, where SRH finished as the runners-up in IPL 2024.
He was then retained by the franchise for a mammoth Rs 14 crores after his blistering performances and will hope to live up to the expectations for the franchise in the 2025 season. He had a wonderful start against the Rajasthan Royals but will hope to improve on his performances in the remainder of his campaign.
Head will be back in action for SRH, who take on Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.
