India vs England T20I Live Score Online Today Match: Hello and a very warm welcome to our live coverage of the first T20I between India and England!
Expect a run-fest when India and England lock horns in the first T20I of their five-match series at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens tonight. India won the toss and opted to bowl first.
India are hosting England for eight white-ball matches including five T20Is and three ODIs in the lead-up to next month’s Champions Trophy. India hasn’t lost a T20I series at home since January 2019. England is kickstarting a new era with coach Brendon McCullum now taking charge of their white-ball teams as well.
Coming to the match, Arshdeep Singh took out both openers on back-to-back overs to push England on the back foot. In the process, he also became the highest wicket-taker in India’s T20I history!
Hardik Pandya leaked runs from the other end though, especially against Jos Buttler, who hit him for multiple boundaries. England ended the powerplay just two wickets down and Buttler and Harry Brook hit a couple of sixes against Axar Patel to push him out of the attack.
Then Varun Chakaravarthy came and bamboozled Brook and Liam Livingstone to bowl them in three balls! Leggie Ravi Bishnoi kept it tight for the most part and Pandya reaped the reward from the other end by getting Bethell out for just 7 (14).
Buttler was left alone when Atkinson also conceded eight dot balls before losing his wicket to Axar Patel. The skipper tried to take on Chakarvarthy in the last over but miscued a pull and was caught in the deep by a diving Nitish Kumar Reddy.
In the end, India kept the visitors down to just 132 runs, setting themselves a target of 133 to win.
