The match against the Rohit Sharma-led side today is a must-win for the Men in Green in order to keep their title defence alive. If India beat Pakistan today and New Zealand beat Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Monday (February 24), then the Mohammad Rizwan-led side will get knocked out of the semifinal race, and India and New Zealand will book a place in the last four of the ongoing eight-team ICC tournament.
For the match against India, Pakistan will miss the services of star opener Fakhar Zaman. Fakhar was ruled out of the tournament on Thursday due to an injury and has been replaced by Imam-ul-Haq. The left-handed opening batter is set to feature in the match today.
While Pakistan are forced to make one change for the match, India are likely to field an unchanged XI, but the possibility of Varun Chakaravarthy’s inclusion in the side in place of Kuldeep Yadav can’t be ruled out either.
