The India Women’s team have bounced back with Smriti Mandhana leading the charge with the bat in the powerplay. Along with Jemimah Rodrigues looking to play support, the two are expected to make the most out of the first six overs.
India will be smarting after receiving a nine-wicket thrashing at the hands of West Indies in the second T20I earlier this week which helped the tourists stay alive in the three-match series. In the opener, India was clinical as they first posted a big score – 195/4 – at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai before restricting West Indies to 146/7. A stung Windies bounced back in style at the same venue producing a vastly improved show with the ball and the bat.
A combined bowling display kept India to 159/9 despite captain Smriti Mandhana hitting 62 off 41 at the top. It was Hayley Matthews who dictated the terms in the chase as she belted an unbeaten 85 off 47 – an innings that included 17 fours – helping West Indies chase down the target in just 15.4 overs.
