Android users have got a new security warning from the Indian government this month and it is surely going to have many worried about using their device. Android Security Risk February 2025: What We Know
The new vulnerabilities affect Android 12, 12L, 13, 14 and the latest 15 versions as well. The number of phones running these versions in India should easily be over 50 million, which means the high severity ranked alert has to be seriously addressed by the brands and keeping their users secure from possible hacking attempts.
CERT-In highlights that multiple vulnerabilities exist within the framework, system, ARM components, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components, and Qualcomm close-sourced components.
The new security note also mentions that because of the affected hardware, all Android phone makers and users can become a target.
The good news is that Android has already got the required security patch to fix the loopholes and all the users are being asked to update their phones to the latest available version. You can get it for your device by going to Settings – System updates – install the latest software update. The new February 2025 security patch should ideally take care of the risks and keep your device secure.
