US immigration new rules: In a major policy shift, the Donald Trump administration has announced that all immigrants in the United States—including legal residents, workers, and students—are now required to carry their identification documents all the time.

The decision, announced by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) followed a recent court ruling allowing a Trump-era immigrant registration rule— requiring illegal immigrants in the US to register with the government— to proceed.

“All non-citizens 18 and older must carry this documentation at all times. This administration has directed DHS to prioritise enforcement, there will be no sanctuary for noncompliance,” the DHS said in a statement released on Friday. The rule came into effect on April 11.
