A teenage girl was awoken to a man masturbating at the end of the bed in Indiana – despite warning her mother about the ‘pervert’ for a year.
Robert L. Short, 30, of Anderson, was arrested on Monday on a warrant that had been issued in February.
The cuffs came after he allegedly was found masturbating at the foot of a teenage girl’s bed, with whom he lived with.
When the girl asked what he was doing, he informed her he was looking for a cat, but there was no animal in the room, according to Fox 59.
The mother of the child allegedly knew about Short’s inappropriate acts as early as a year ago.
In October, the girl had texted her mom: ‘Obv [sic] don’t care enough because I’m still living in a house with a disgusting pervert.’
It is unclear what the man’s relationship is to the mother and daughter.
In the fall, the mother had confronted Short about ‘playing with himself’ in her teen’s bedroom, but she failed to report him to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department as she feared child services would take her daughter away, according to Fox 59.

When she asked if he was going into the girl’s room to masturbate, Short allegedly replied: ‘You already know the answer.’
The teen recalled Short touching himself in her room on several occasions, including once while completely naked, the local outlet reported.
When she asked him why he was naked in her room, he allegedly just stared at her.
He would also allegedly masturbate in the bathroom across the hall from her with the door open while watching pornography on his phone, Fox 59 reported.
The teen reportedly tried to put up obstacles to keep Short out of her bedroom, including putting a chair and blanket in front of the door, but it did not deter him.
Her mom told investigators she knew the claims against Short for about a year, but only recently confronted him.
The mother has not been charged with a crime.

Short was charged with felony counts of neglect of a dependent and performance before a minor that is harmful to minors, and a misdemeanor for obscene performance.
He has since bailed out of jail on a $500 bond, according to Fox 59.
Short could face up to 2.5 years in prison.
