Infosys Implements New Attendance System, Requires Employees To Work 10 Days From Office Monthly

Infosys requires employees to work from the office at least 10 days a month starting March 10, 2025, using a new mobile app for attendance to boost post-pandemic office presence.

Infosys Rolls Out New Attendance System For Employees.

Infosys, the leading IT company, is implementing a new attendance system, mandating employees to work from the office for a minimum of 10 days per month. This initiative aims to increase office attendance, which significantly declined post the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to an ET report, Infosys has launched a new mobile application-based attendance system. This system requires employees to physically mark their presence at their designated offices for at least 10 days each month. The company will no longer automatically approve work-from-home requests, prioritizing project needs over departmental requests.

Communication to Employees

Department heads at the Bengaluru-based company have sent emails to their teams, instructing them to limit their work-from-home requests from March 10, 2025, as per ET report.

The email reportedly stated, “To support this, starting March 10, 2025, system interventions will be implemented to limit the number of work-from-home days that can be applied each month. These measures are designed to ensure compliance with the new hybrid work requirements while maintaining flexibility for employees.”

TCS Uses Different Approach To Increase Attendance

In contrast, TCS, a major competitor of Infosys, has linked employee variable compensation to their adherence to a five-day office attendance policy.

The shift towards office-based work follows a period of widespread remote work adoption during the pandemic. Factors such as economic slowdown, concerns about employee moonlighting, and a desire to strengthen workplace culture have prompted Infosys and other tech companies to implement office attendance policies.

On November 20, 2023, Infosys launched its initial return-to-office initiative. The company designated specific weeks per quarter as “in-person collab” weeks, requiring full team presence for collaborative tasks.

Wipro, another Bengaluru-based competitor, maintains a hybrid work model that mandates employees to work from the office three days a week, with an additional provision of 30 days of remote work annually.
