Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised the speech delivered by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in the parliament on Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
The Prime Minister Modi praised Singh’s insightful perspective on India’s security apparatus and the bravery of the armed forces, while also commending Jaishankar’s outstanding speech highlighting India’s stance on fighting terrorism.
“An excellent speech by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Ji, giving an insightful perspective on the success of India’s security apparatus and the courage of our armed forces in Operation Sindoor,” PM Modi wrote on X. He also shared a video of the Defence Minister’s speech in the parliament.
In a separate post, with the video attached, the Prime Minister wrote, “The speech by EAM Dr. Jaishankar Ji was outstanding. He highlighted how the world has clearly heard India’s perspective on fighting the menace of terrorism through Operation Sindoor.”
Meanwhile, Jaishankar, in a post on X, expressed his gratitude to PM Modi, acknowledging his leadership and determination in combating terrorism.
“Thank you, PM @narendramodi ji. Your leadership and resolve in the fight against terrorism are an inspiration for us all,” he said.
Jaishankar on Monday informed that no telephonic conversation was held between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump from April 22 to June 17. His remarks came as the opposition alleged that India ended the military conflict with Pakistan under Trump’s pressure.
“There was no call between PM Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump from April 22, when Trump called up to convey sympathy and to June 17, when he called up PM in Canada to explain why he couldn’t meet him,” Jaishankar said in Lok Sabha. The EAM further went on to explain the events that led to the cessation of the conflict.
This comes after Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, who opened the debate for the opposition, targeted the government over US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he brokered the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor. He asked if Islamabad was ready to kneel down, “Why did you stop, and to whom did you surrender?”
