Apple’s mission to make a thin iPhone is truly on
Apple’s 2025 lineup for the iPhones is getting tastier with every new update. And the latest news claims that one of the iPhone 17 models will be Apple’s thinnest-ever iPhone in the market. We have been hearing rumours about the iPhone 17 Slim version, which could be called the iPhone 17 Air, and there are some more details about the supposed model this week.
The iPhone 17 series model could feature a thin frame to live up to its name and for that Apple is going to make some big design changes over the next few quarters.
Thinnest-Ever iPhone?
Apple is expected to surpass its feat with the iPhone 17 Slim model which is now said to get 6mm thickness but that also means we might see some cutbacks.
The new update contradicts another report which came out recently. It said that Apple is struggling with the size of the battery that will go into the Slim version, and it is unlikely that Apple will compromise on the battery life to make it thin. In fact, the report even mentioned that Apple’s effort could end up giving us the new iPhone 17 Slim at 6.9mm), same as the dimensions of the iPhone 6 version.
iPhone 17 Slim Features Expected
The iPhone 17 Air is reportedly going to be powered by the upcoming A19 chipset, and feature a single rear camera that does sound rather bold from Apple. It is likely to have a ProMotion 120Hz display that should slightly tilt the scale in its favour. Apple’s ambition to make a thin iPhone could come at the cost of less number of cameras as the sensor might not fit into the module.
Having said that, rumours around the iPhone 17 Slim have been just that, pure rumours, and unless Apple gives us more concrete hints for its plans in the Air direction with the iPhones, we would prefer to take these updates with a pinch of salt.
