Before the match, Hardik Pandya sustained a significant injury during a practice session. While attempting a sweep shot against a local spinner, the ball struck his eye, necessitating seven stitches. Despite the injury, Pandya decided to take the field in this crucial match.
At the toss, Pandya was seen with a bandage on his eye and wearing glasses, signalling his injury. However, this did not deter him from delivering an outstanding performance. He scored a brisk 48 runs off 23 balls, including one six and six fours, propelling the Mumbai Indians to a formidable score.
The Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for just 117 runs, handing the Mumbai Indians a comprehensive 100-run victory. Pandya also contributed with the ball, claiming the wicket of Shubham Dubey, the impact player, for two runs in his solitary over.
