Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians Qualifier 2, IPL 2025: Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings are all set to take on Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2025 edition at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1.
After being hammered by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first qualifier, it’s on the Punjab-based unit to recover after a crushing defeat should they want to go for their maiden title. Meanwhile, the momentum will be on a high for the Mumbai Indians, who held their nerves for a win by 20 runs to make it through to the next stage of the playoffs.
Both captains will have different reasons to get that spot in the final. For Iyer, it will be a statement made after his previous franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, opted not to retain their title-winning captain. For Pandya, it will be a point to prove, considering how his first season as MI’s captain was an underwhelming one.

Players to Watch:
Suryakumar Yadav: The T20 batting great has been in stellar form throughout the IPL season, and his experience in the big games will prove to be vital for the Mumbai Indians’ chances. With the pitches expected to be a high-scoring one, his contribution with the bat could prove to be crucial.
Jasprit Bumrah: With a high-scoring game expected, Bumrah’s skill with the ball comes in clutch as Mumbai can bank on their ace in the hole to deliver four quality overs when needed. If he is able to get wickets or, at the very least, build on the pressure, Mumbai will certainly fancy their chances.
Arshdeep Singh: With the loss of Marco Jansen to national duties, the onus comes on India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is to step up for his franchise. His ability to bowl in all three phases will be crucial to help curb Mumbai’s all-star batting unit.
