IPL 2025 Points Table: The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is finally underway, and what a way to open up the tournament, with two heavyweights putting on a show for all to witness.

Unfortunately for the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), it was the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) who just proved to be too much to handle, as the visitors registered a statement win, downing KKR by 7 wickets at the Eden Gardens to seal their first victory of the IPL 2025 season.

KKR stumbled after a strong start with the bat, led by skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s sizzling 56. But, Krunal Pandya bamboozled the batting ranks, registering an impressive spell of 3/29 to slow down the home team and halt them to a subpar total of 174 runs.

When it was RCB’s time to chase, they wasted no time, with openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli both putting up fiery fifties of their own to dominate the KKR bowlers.

Despite Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine striking at around the halfway mark, RCB remained unfazed and soared to a resounding win off the back of quickfire cameos from skipper Rajat Patidar and Liam Livingstone.

With their win, RCB opened their IPL account, registering 2 points out the gate, with a dominant NRR of 2.137 to kickstart their hunt for glory, while KKR were handed disappointment.
