IPL 2025 Purple Cap Standings: Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a big 58-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday to maintain their winning momentum in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Led by Sai Sudharsan’s 82 (53), they put up a significant 217/6 in the first innings. In the second essay, each of their five bowlers picked up at least one wicket to bowl the Royals out for 159.
For the visitors, Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana picked up two wickets each in the first innings but both also conceded more than 50 runs. In the second essay, Sanju Samson scored a 28-ball 41 and Shimron Hetmyer put up 52 (32) but a lack of contributions from the others meant they couldn’t come close.
Most Wickets in IPL 2025 – Purple Cap leaderboard after GT vs RR match
It was all Titans’ bowlers shining in the Purple Cap table after the match, epitomizing how the franchise’s attack is leading to their success in this tournament. Left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore jumped up to the second spot, just behind Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad, who held on to the cap for another day.
Sai Kishore’s two wickets against RR took him to 10. He was joined by Mohammed Siraj, who picked up another wicket with an excellent tournament economy rate of 7.70. There was another GT man who threw his name in the hat — pacer Prasidh Krishna who’s now placed eighth with eight wickets after his season-best figures of 3/24.
The fact that none of the RR’s bowlers are in the top-10 tells a story about their season, too.
