Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson Masha Michelson said Iran was an existential threat to Israel and is closer to acquiring nuclear weapons. She said Iran was becoming a problem for other countries in the region, while adding that Israel’s work is far from over.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Michelson said, “Iran is an existential threat to Israel. They are close to becoming nuclear. What would it look like if one such ballistic missile had a nuclear warhead? We have targeted their nuclear and military establishment.”

Israel dealt heavy blows to Iran during its unprecedented attack on Friday under Operation Rising Lion, killing most of its military leadership and nuclear scientists. At least 128 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Friday and Saturday, according to Iranian media reports.

“A lot of work is still left. Iran is not only a threat to Israel but Europe and other countries. They hit out at civilian areas, in which 13 Israelis lost their lives,” she said, referencing Iran’s missile barrage over two days.

“Iran is not only an Israeli problem, it is developing rockets which could reach Europe.”

IDF Spokesperson Does Not Deny Building Secret Base

The IDF spokesperson did not deny creating a secret drone base reportedly built by Mossad. According to Israeli media reports, Israel spent years preparing for the operation against Iran’s nuclear and missile programs by building a drone base inside Iran and smuggling precision weapons systems and commandos into the country.

When asked about the report, Michelson said, “I will not be referring to other security agencies’ operations.”

Michelson said Israel’s goal was to remove this existential threat and described it as the moment of the ’11th Hour’. All generals close to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been killed, she said.

Israel and Iran exchanged a fresh wave of missile attacks overnight into Sunday, escalating tensions and raising fears of a wider regional conflict. At least 10 people were killed after Iran launched ballistic missiles for another day, raising the total death count to 13.
