Marcus Rashford reportedly lost the support of his dressing-room buddies after he revealed his plans to leave Manchester United. Speculations have been rife about Rashford’s future at the club. He has fallen in the pecking order since Ruben Amorim took over the managerial job at Old Trafford. United handed a contract extension to Rashford in July. He, however, may be shown the exit door in the upcoming January transfer window, as per media reports.

Rashford shared in a recent interview that he was ready to take up “new challenges”. “When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me. That’s me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me,” Rashford told journalist Henry Winter.

His comments did not go down well with the “United dressing room”, as reported by the Sun. “Some of the players are really annoyed at what Marcus said and why he chose to say it at that time,” a source told the outlet.

Marcus Rashford perhaps put up a transfer request after being dropped from the Manchester derby which United won 2-1. As per the Sun, the English forward has fallen short of friends following the departure of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

“Rashford is pretty quiet now and doesn’t really act as a leader. More is expected of him but he doesn’t seem interested, despite having been in the first team for eight years,” the source claimed.

Rashford is an academy graduate who has been at Manchester United for nearly two decades. Since his senior-team debut in 2016, Rashford has struck 138 goals in 428 appearances across all competitions. He was handed a £350,000-a-week contract after scoring 30 goals in the 2022-23 season.

Rashford, however, failed to replicate that performance in the following campaigns. He has played 24 matches so far this season. He has recorded only seven goals and three assists.
