Former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have finally addressed the ongoing divorce rumours that have been doing the rounds on the internet for months.
The couple appeared together on Michelle’s brother Craig Robinson’s podcast – IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson – on Wednesday and dismissed the speculations about their marriage.
“She took me back! It was touch and go for a while,” Obama said in a lighter note, breaking all of them into laughter.
The former First Lady chimed in, saying, “It’s my husband, y’all. Her brother Craig joked, “It’s so nice to have you both in the same room together.”
Smiling, Michelle responded, “I know, because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced.”
This was the first time when the duo addressed their divorce rumours, which gained fire earlier this year after Michelle did not attend the funeral of former US President Jimmy Carter and also skipped Donald Trump’s January 20 inauguration this year.
The podcaster also shared a moment when a stranger bumped into him at an airport and asked, “What did he (Obama) do?”
Obama said that he is often unaware of the talks going around in the circles. “These are the kinds of things I just miss. I don’t even know this stuff is going on. Then somebody mentions it and I’m like, what are you talking about?”
Michelle said that she never even thought of giving up on Barack.
“There hasn’t been a single moment in our marriage when I thought about giving up on my man. We have been through tough times, but we have also had a lot of fun and had some amazing adventures. I have become a better person because of the man I married,” she said.
