Yashasvi Jaiswal redeemed himself with a sharp catch at gully to dismiss Zak Crawley off Nitish Reddy’s bowling, triggering a spirited celebration at Lord’s.
Reddy’s Send-Off To Crawley Steals Show
Yashasvi Jaiswal redeemed himself on Sunday in what was a jubilant moment for India in the ongoing third India vs England Test at the home of cricket– Lord’s. Zak Crawley, whose time-wasting act on Saturday evening left the Indians fuming, was dismissed by all-rounder Nitish Reddy in the morning session of the fourth day, and it was Jaiswal who grabbed a sharp catch at gully.
Though Jaiswal has been among runs coming to England, he has been getting highly criticized for his sloppy fieldwork since the first Test in Leeds. But the 23-year-old didn’t make any mistakes on Sunday. Crawley looked to drive Reddy’s fuller delivery swinging away but ended up nicking it towards gully where Jaiswal pouched it safely.
The Indians erupted in joy. While others rushed to congratulate Jaiswal, Reddy was spotted giving an animated send-off to Crawley, whose struggle in the middle ended at 22 runs.
Zak Crawley’s time-wasting act on day 3
Tensions galore at Lord’s in the final over of Day 3 when Zak Crawley’s time-wasting antics sparked visible frustration in the Indian camp. With just one over left before stumps, Crawley took an unusually long time to take strike, repeatedly adjusting his gear and backing away from the crease. The Indian captain, standing in the slips, was seen exchanging heated words with the England opener, clearly annoyed at the deliberate delay.
The incident disrupted the flow of the game and appeared to be a tactical move by Crawley to deny India another over under fading light. The umpires intervened to calm things down, but the exchange reflected the rising intensity between the two sides.
England scored 2 runs in the first over after India were bowled out for 387, levelling the first-inning score with the hosts.
