Jasprit Bumrah is a fearsome fast bowler who has terrorised batters all over the globe and yet is known for his fun side off the field.

On Tuesday, Bumrah took to Instagram to post a video in which the fast bowler can be seen donning a face mask of his own likeness and video calling his mother.

At the start of the video, Jasprit Bumrah can be seen goofing off and yet at the end, he does accept that he looks far better than the photo on his mask.

Bumrah recently led the Indian cricket team to a 295-run win over Australia in the opening Test of their five-match series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optuis Stadium in Perth. He thus became only the second captain from an Asian country after Anil Kumble to emerge victorious in a Test match played in Perth (WACA or Optus).

Bumrah finished with a match haul of 8/72 (5/30 and 3/42) and increased his wicket tally in Australia to 40 at an average of 18.80 in eight test matches.

Bumrah passed offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin (39 wickets) as the third most successful Indian bowler in Australia behind swing bowler Kapil Dev (51 in 11) and legspinner Anil Kumble (49 in 10).

Jasprit Bumrah’s eight wickets in the game was also the fourth-best for an Indian captain in Test history.

His performance has garnered him a lot of praise since.

Former England fast bowler Steven Finn said: “He is just—he’s a joke, honestly. You watch him bowl, and you just think, I’m glad that I don’t have to strap my pads on.”

Former England captain Michael Atherton said: “I thought Jasprit Bumrah was absolutely fantastic. Those two new ball spells. I mean, there’s a few bowlers when you retire; you don’t really think about, you know, your time as a player, but there’s the odd bowler that I just think, thank goodness I did not face him with a new ball.”

Glenn Maxwell backed Bumrah to go down as “potentially the best fast bowler of all time.”

Former England captain Nasser Hussain said: “Bumrah’s stats are up there with me. He’s popped under 20 over quite a long period of time. He’s incredible in all formats. He’s the best all-format bowler in the world bar none.”
