Jax Taylor has revealed he had ‘no idea he was a narcissist’ until his 30 day stay at a mental health facility – amid his split from wife Brittany Cartwright.

The Vanderpump Rules star, 45, spoke candidly about his treatment as he made an appearance on his When Reality Hits podcast – where he took questions from fans.

When he was asked if he thought he was a ‘textbook narcissist’ the proprietor of Jax’s bar didn’t hesitate in answering ‘yes.’

‘I am a narcissist, yes,’ he continued. ‘I breadcrumb, I love bomb [and also] gaslighting. I’m missing some but I do all these things. I had no idea there were terms for these things.’

The father of son Cruz, three, with estranged wife Brittany Cartwright, said he would ‘look up the definition’ for various terms only to realize it describes his behavior perfectly.

‘So yes, I have to humble myself and say, “Do you think you’re a narcissist?” And I do,’ he said. “I don’t know how I became one. [But] I do believe I’m a narcissist.’

The reality TV star said  he has ‘learned probably five new terms’ that he had ‘never heard’ of before starting treatment in July.

Jax is not a diagnosed narcissist, but he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.

‘I am not a doctor, so I can’t say that for sure,’ he added. ‘But by just looking up the definition, I have to agree.’

He continued, ‘And I’ve been this person for years and I had no idea. I was never held accountable for my actions for many, many years until recently — until people have had enough.’

The former SUR bartender said that people – including his wife who he admitted he took for granted – were ‘tired of walking on eggshells’ around him.

‘Brittany has been asking me to do something like this for a very long time and I just come from a background where we just really don’t ask for help,’ he explained, adding that she had been begging him to do something about his anger issues for years.

While he was in the treatment facility, he spent seven hours a day in intensive therapy, which made him nervous to leave and go back out into the real life and his life again.

He found comfort in the routine of treatment. ‘I got there, I f***ing hated it and.. then I loved it,’ he said in a clip from his and Cartwright’s When Reality Hits podcast posted on Instagram.
