Jeevan Pramaan Patra

Jeevan Pramaan, also known as the Digital Life Certificate, is a biometric-based digital service designed to simplify the pension verification process for pensioners. This service is available to pensioners from central and state governments, as well as other government organizations, allowing them to submit their life certificates online, anytime and anywhere.

Previously, pensioners had to visit their pension-disbursing agencies in person every year to submit their life certificates. This process was often tedious and time-consuming. The Jeevan Pramaan initiative resolves this issue by digitizing the life certificate submission process, making it more efficient and convenient.

For central government pensioners, a faster alternative to the traditional method is available through face authentication. This allows pensioners to verify their identity and submit their life certificates digitally, without needing to visit a bank or pension office. In addition to face authentication, pensioners can also choose other verification methods such as biometric verification, iris scan, Video KYC, or even visit an India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) Gramin Dak Sevaks for assistance.

Advantages of Face Authentication:

Face authentication is a convenient option that helps pensioners avoid unnecessary visits to banks or pension-disbursing offices. It saves time and speeds up the processing of life certificate submissions. The government encourages pensioners to take advantage of this hassle-free service.

Steps to Obtain Jeevan Pramaan via Face Authentication:

1. Download the Aadhaar Face RD App

Visit the Google Play Store to download the “Aadhaar Face RD (Early Access)” app. This app, developed by UIDAI, supports the operations necessary for Jeevan Pramaan. Ensure you have the latest version, which is currently version 3.6.3.

2. Operator Authentication

Open the Jeevan Pramaan app and proceed to the “Operator Authentication” page. Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and email address, and then tick the checkbox to confirm your Aadhaar details. Click ‘Submit’ to proceed.

3. OTP Verification

After submission, an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address. Enter the OTP in the app to verify your contact details.

4. First Face Scan

Once your details are verified, you will be prompted to enter your name as per your Aadhaar. The app will request access to your device’s camera to capture your face for authentication. Grant the necessary permissions to proceed.

5. Pensioner Authentication Process:

– Follow these steps for pensioner authentication:

– Complete a facial scan for identity verification.

– Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and optional email ID.

– Submit the details and wait for OTP confirmation.

6. Pensioner Details Form:

– Fill out the form with the following information:

– Personal details (name, contact information).

– Type of pension, PPO number, and pension account number.

– Disbursing agency details.

– Verify all declarations before submitting the form.

7. Final Verification:

Complete the process with a second face scan for final confirmation. After this, you will receive a Pramaan ID and a PPO number as acknowledgment on your mobile screen.

Other Verification Methods for Digital Life Certificates:

1. Biometric Devices: Pensioners can use biometric data, such as fingerprints, to verify their identity.

2. Iris Scanners: Iris scanning provides enhanced security and accuracy for identity verification.

3. Video KYC: Pensioners can verify their identity through a video call with an authorized representative.

4. Gramin Dak Sevaks: Rural pensioners can seek assistance from Gramin Dak Sevaks (India Post Payments Bank rural postal employees) to submit their Digital Life Certificates from home.

5. Public Sector Banks: Banks also offer doorstep services to assist pensioners who are unable to visit a branch in person.

This digital solution streamlines the pensioners’ life certificate submission process, reducing the need for physical visits to banks or government offices. While alternative verification methods are still available, face authentication is the most convenient and accessible option for most pensioners.
