Jimmy Fallon tried to get his fans into the holiday special with a new NBC special, but it left many bashing his singing and comedy stylings.

The 50-year-old Tonight Show host debuted his new special Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular, featuring songs from his Holiday Seasoning album that debuted in November.

The special featured Fallon searching for his ‘Christmas Ding Dong’ throughout New York City, meeting many friends along the way such as J.B. Smoove, Dolly Parton, Meghan Trainor, Justin Timberlake, Cara Delevingne, ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic, LL Cool J, Mariah Carey and his Tonight Show house band The Roots.

Fans were quick to bash the special on social media, which comes just days after many called him out for appearing to be drunk during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The one-hour special followed Jimmy’s holiday quest with numerous songs peppered in, with many making it clear they’re not a fan of his singing or his songwriting.

@Crew962 insisted, ‘Jimmy Fallon just jumped the shark. This “holiday seasoning” is horrific garbage. I heard better songs written by my three year old niece.’

@zest674 said, ‘Watching Jimmy Fallon tonight on @nbc was more like watching a long drawn out disaster, one green screen awful act at a time… I think we’re kinda all tired of the same LOW quality, BADLY produced shows year after year, with the SAME OVER-HYPED “celebrities.” It’s weird.’

X user Blanca Camacho said, ‘@nbc Oh my goodness, thank heaven for Mariah Carey! This #JimmyFallon #HolidaySeasoning show is awful. #AlYankovic made it bearable and now Mariah Carey finally saved it. Fallon is no singer. So why have him singing for an hour?! UGH!’

Even fans of Jimmy Fallon like Amy McGahan said, ‘I like Jimmy Fallon, but this Christmas special is AWFUL.’

@EnjoyMissJanet was happy to see Mariah Carey, adding, ‘Mariah singing a song entirely live on Fallon???’

National Champions Boat Shoes also said he was a fan, but added, ‘Is America really asking for THIS much Jimmy Fallon?’

@str8ness bluntly said, ‘This Jimmy Fallon Christmas special is s**t,’ while @Richelle1186 added, ‘Jimmy Fallon can not sing.’

@DCAoutlout wondered, ‘What kind of blackmail does Jimmy Fallon have on NBC to keep getting all these jobs?’

Blanca Camacho wondered, ‘How can this Jimmy Fallon special have SO many great artists and yet be so BAD?! The songs are bad, his singing is bad, the premise, each premise corny as heck. The common denominator for all the “ew” has to be Jimmy Fallon.’

@MEDedicke added, ‘This Jimmy Fallon XMas special is bad. No great stars like Dolly can redeem it. The search for a Christmas ding-dong? Really?’

‘No one in this world finds Jimmy Fallon more charming than Jimmy Fallon,’ opined @crimeisbeauty.

@ledbyforce added, ‘Jimmy Fallon’s holiday playlist: where “fun stuff” is code for “stuff my friends sang on.”‘

‘Jimmy Fallon has a special? Who thought that was a good idea?’ asked @teddyreals.

@TennisChik said, ‘I totally expected the Jimmy Fallon Christmas special to be a nod back to the Dean Martin & Andy Williams shows from Christmas past. Holy wow was I wrong. It’s so hard to watch but we can’t look away!’

Lou DiBella added, ‘I am a sucker for Christmas programming and I’ll tolerate just about anything, but what in the actual f**k is this Jimmy Fallon #NBCChristmasSpecial. Feels like experiencing a really bad trip that you want to end but it won’t. And it’s so bizarrely narcissistic that it grabs your attention and holds you… like watching a Xmas trainwreck.’

The holiday special begins with Fallon finding the special Holiday Seasoning House, where he tells J.B. Smoove he’s on a quest to find the Christmas Ding-Dong.

Smoove insists there is ‘Christmas magic behind every door,’ and he chooses one door and finds Questlove and Tariq from The Roots in Questlove’s ‘childhood home.’

They watch a show with Dolly Parton as it cuts into a claymation music video sequence with their song Almost too Early For Christmas.

Then Questlove and Tariq show Jimmy more ‘Christmas magic,’ showing them all as kids singing Hey Rudy.

He then finds a room with chipmunks and chestnuts… leading into his song Chipmunks and Chestnuts.

Jimmy then gets a text from Justin Timberlake, saying he can’t go to the lodge this year even though it’s a Christmas tradition, which leads into Jimmy and Justin’s song You’ll Be There.

Jimmy then goes into another door where he parodies a specific brand of Christmas movies with Cara Delevingne with their song Hallmark Movie.

They have a ‘meet-cute’ at a hardware store before leading into their song skewering the slew of similar Hallmark movies, even name-dropping Candace Cameron Bure.

Jimmy then meets LL Cool J at the hardware store, where they both find The Jonas Brothers in a snow globe.

That leads into their song Holiday featuring both LL Cool J and The Jonas Brothers.

Jimmy then teams up with Meghan Trainor for their duet Wrap Me Up, before Jimmy realizes that he himself is the Christmas Ding-Dong.

He then gets invited to an early New Year’s Eve Party by ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic, where they come up with a ‘fun’ New Year’s Eve song called New Year’s Eve Polka.

After inexplicably skiing through the sky, Jimmy gets a call from Mariah Carey, and she sings her classic All I Want For Christmas Is You, accompanied by classroom instruments.
