J&K Assembly Election: PM Modi To Address Rally In Srinagar Amid Multi-layer Security Today

A day after the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address a public rally in Srinagar on Thursday.

According to BJP, the rally is scheduled to take place at Srinagar’s Sher-e-Kashmir Park and around 30,000 party workers and supporters are expected to attend it. The rally is part of the BJP’s campaign to garner support for its candidates in the Valley.

Sharing details BJP leader Altaf Thakur said that the Prime Minister is coming to Srinagar to interact with the party workers. “He will meet with the 19 candidates of the party and this will boost the morale of the candidates,” he added.

Of the 47 seats in Kashmir, the BJP has fielded candidates in 19 constituencies, fewer than in the last Assembly elections held in 2014.

Meanwhile, extensive security measures have been put in place ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Srinagar. In addition to this, the event will be closely monitored by various security agencies.

J&K Polls

The first phase of the three-phase Assembly election in the Union Territory was held on Wednesday, September 18. Polling in 24 Assembly constituencies across the Union Territory was completed in the first phase.

The remaining two phases of the Jammu and Kashmir polls will be held on September 25 and October 1, while the counting of the votes will be undertaken on October 8.
