Joe Biden speaks for the first time on cancer diagnosis

Former President Joe Biden has given his first public remarks since his office announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Speaking to reporters after an event marking Memorial Day, Biden said he’s “feeling good” and he expects to “be able to beat this”.

In the announcement of his diagnosis, the cancer was categorised as having a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), meaning his illness is classified as “high-grade” and the cancer cells could spread quickly, according to Cancer Research UK.
