The Indian men’s cricket team will face England in a five-match Test series which is set to start on June 20 in Leeds. During the five-match series, Joe Root will be a key player for the hosts. The right-handed batter from Yorkshire is England’s leading run getter in Test cricket, and there will be high expectations from him in the five matches. During the high-voltage matches against India, Root will have a chance to create history.
If the right-handed batter manages to amass a total of at least 154 runs in the upcoming five matches, then he will enter his name in the history books by becoming the first player in the world to score 3000 runs in Test cricket against India.
As of now, Root, who made his Test debut against India in December 2012, has 2846 runs to his name in 30 matches played so far. He needs 154 more runs to complete 3000 Test runs.

Root, who is the fifth leading run getter in Test cricket, has scored 10 centuries and 11 half-centuries in the five-day format of the game against Team India. If he crosses the 100-run mark twice in the upcoming series, then he will go past Steve Smith’s tally of 11 Test centuries against India.
