Jordon Hudson praises Donald Trump for solving ‘existential’ crisis

Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of legendary football coach Bill Belichick, 72, has claimed victory from Donald Trump after her desperate plea for him to reinstate the Maine Sea Grant.

The former cheerleader issued an impassioned statement on Instagram this week where she underlined the ‘existential fears’ of families who depend on the fishing industry for their livelihoods after funding for the Maine Sea Grant was cut.

But on Wednesday night, she gleefully announced that the Trump administration have agreed to renegotiate the funding, posting on Instagram: The fisherman have been heard! The Trump administration has agreed to renegotiate the Maine Sea Grant Funding.

It is with a full, full heart that I share that this most wonderful news with you all. This effort could not have been achieved without Senator Susan Collins and her commitment to Maine’s fishing community.

‘Senator Collins, on behalf of all fishermen of Maine, I thank you for your continual support in preserving our heritage, tradition and economy.

‘Thank you to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, for hearing our pleas.

‘Thank you for your commitment to ensuring that hardworking Maine lobstermen and fishermen will continue to make a living and provide seafood for local, state, and national markets in a sustainable fashion.’

She ended her post with the hashtags ‘TrumpDOESLoveFishermen’ and ‘TrumpLovesFisherman’.

In her initial statement earlier this week, Hudson said of the cut to funding: ‘This decision only amplified the uncertainty, anxiety and existential fears that already plague the fishermen of Maine.

‘It was the reckless regulatory decisions by government officials with no stake in those decisions that forced my 9th generation fishermen father out of this industry more than 15 years ago. Please do not put others through what we have been through.’

Hudson previously addressed the plight during Super Bowl week when she donned a nautical themed mini dress and matching lobster purse for Sports Illustrated’s The Party.

She had hand-bedazzled the purse with the message, ‘Save Maine Fishermen,’ which she said was inspired by her ‘nautical family history.’

‘I have a message that pays homage to my family and a message that I’d like to put out there and give a little bit of recognition to the fishermen in Maine,’ Hudson said, via PEOPLE.

‘They need help, and hopefully through fashion, we can bring awareness to the fact that fishermen and lobstermen in Maine are struggling,’ Hudson added.

Hudson, who has said that she is working on producing a documentary about her family history and the ongoing struggles of Maine fishermen, previously took to Instagram to speak out on the issue.

‘The consequences of poor local and state legislation can be devastating. I would know, as my life has been severely altered by just that,’ Hudson wrote.

‘During the early 2000’s, a series of bills were passed by the Maine State Legislature (some of which were co-sponsored by local reps.) that were detrimental to Maine’s entire fishing industry and wiped out many fishing communities; ultimately resulting in the closure of my family’s multi-generational fishing business,’ she continued.
