Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has jokingly suggested he might be done with European football after his current contract after the Turkish sided played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League.
Despite securing a point against a top European side, Mourinho was not smiling at the result. Speaking at the post-match conference, he admitted it might be best for him to stop managing teams competing in European club competitions.
“I think the best thing I have to do is, when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that doesn’t play UEFA competitions,” he said as per Sky Sports.
Speaking of the game, Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen had earned a lead for his side in the 15th minute. But the lead did not last long as Youssef En-Neysri found the equaliser in the 49th minute to secure a point.
Fans witnessed some classic touchline dramatics from Mourinho when the hosts sought a spot-kick. His protests began after Fenerbahce right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel was denied a penalty following a challenge by Manuel Ugarte.
With the dramatics straying over the line, in view of match referee Clement Turpin, the Fenerbahce manager was shown the red card and forced to retreat to the stands.
Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce will now turn their attention to the Super Lig as they prepare to face Bodrum at the Sukri Saracoglu on October 27. As for Manchester United, they will next face West Ham United in the Premier League.
