The third ODI is scheduled to take place in Perth on November 10, whereas the three T20Is will be played in Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart on November 14, 16, and 18, respectively.
Star wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will lead Australia in the three-match T20I series against Pakistan. He was appointed as Australia’s captain for the first time ever on Wednesday (November 6). The 29-year-old stumper, who has 679 runs to his name in 26 shortest format matches played so far, was preferred for the top job over the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa. Australia will face Pakistan in three T20Is on November 14, 16, and 18 in Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart.
Australia had announced the squad for the T20I series against Pakistan last month without naming any captain. Maxwell, who is the most capped player for Australia in T20Is, was expected to take the top job, but Inglis, who has scored two T20I centuries in the last 12 months, was picked over him.
In addition to leading the side in the T20Is, Inglis will also serve as stand-in captain during the final match ODIs series against Pakistan, which will be played at Perth Stadium on November 10.
The promotion of Inglis will allow Test captain Pat Cummins and Australian red-ball players like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith to sit out the final match of the ongoing ODI series.
Pacers Spencer Johnson, Lance Morris, and Xavier Bartlett are added to Australia’s squad for the third T20I, along with wicketkeeper-batter Josh Phillipe.
“Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field,” selection chair George Bailey said on Wednesday.
“He has led Australia A previously and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to the role. Josh will receive great support from the likes of Matt Short and Adam Zampa, along with senior players including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.”
