The festival of Kali Chaudas is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of the Krishna Paksha of the Kartik month.
The fourteenth day of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month is called Kali Chaudas. It is also known as Narak Chaturdashi, Bhoot Chaudas, or Roop Chaudas. On this day, worshipping Goddess Kali, Hanuman, Kaal Bhairav, Shanidev, Yamdev and Yantras hold special significance. It marks the triumph of good over evil and symbolizes the eradication of darkness and negativity from life.

This year, Narak Chaturdashi will be celebrated on October 30. International astrologer and Vastu expert Ravibhai Joshi recently shared that Kali Chaudas have special significance in Hinduism. On this day, Bengali people do special worship of Mahakali Mata. It is said that this day is also called Naraka Chaudas because Kali Mata killed Narakasura. Not only this, Lord Krishna freed 16,100 queens held captive by Narakasura and married them.
Importance of Abhyanga Bath and Worship on Kali Chaudas Day:
Importance of Abhyanga Snan: By applying mud and taking a bath before sunrise on the day of Kali Chaudas, a person becomes free from every disease.
On this day one should avoid killing any living creature. It is necessary to donate sesame oil.
Do Not Put Your Feet on the Broom: On this day one should not put your feet on the broom even by mistake.
Preparation for Worship: Before worshipping the gods and goddesses, sesame oil and sandalwood paste should be applied.
Lighting a Lamp: A sesame oil lamp should be lit outside the house before sunrise. After sunrise, offer water to the Sun God.
Worship Method of Kali Chaudas:
Remembering the Revered Deities: On this day, Mahakali Mata, Hanumanji, Kaal Bhairav, and Yam Dev should be worshipped.
Lighting Lamps Towards the South: On the evening of Kali Chaudas, light four-sided lamps facing south at the door of the house and worship all the gods and goddesses.
Process of Lighting the Lamp: Light an oil lamp outside the house, office, or shop.
Result of Worship: The worship or meditation done on this day and night gives a thousand times the result.
Worship of Hanumanji: On the night of Kali Chaudas, sit in front of Hanumanji wearing red or saffron clothes and chant Hanumanji’s mantra. This removes obstacles, diseases, dangers, or other difficulties in your work.
