Pandit Manotpal Jha of Purnia, Bihar, shared that according to Mithila Panchang, this time Diwali will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31, Krishna Paksha Amavasya. At the same time, the auspicious time for this Diwali will start at 3:23 minutes of the day with the entry of Amavasya. During this time, due to the entry of Amavasya at 3:23 minutes, Lakshmi Puja will be done from 3:23 minutes of the day to 11:15 pm. During this auspicious time, people can do special worship, including Lakshmi, Kuber Puja, and Ulka Bhraman Diwali.

Pandit ji also added that on this day, one should make a sign of Maa Lakshmi’s foot paduka from their main door to the puja room for proper blessings from God.

Kali Puja Shubh Muhurat:

Pandit Manotpal Jha further shared that the auspicious time given for Pran Pratishtha to worship Maa Kali, according to Mithila Panchang, will start from 11:56 pm and will continue till 1:14 am midnight. During this time, Pran Pratishtha the idol of Maa Kali will be done, and special worship will be done. There is a coincidence of the installation of Maa Kali at this auspicious time.

According to Mithila customs and traditions, people still practice playing soup in the courtyard of their house at 3 o’clock on the night of October 31. This practice is mainly done to drive away poverty and to bring and please Goddess Lakshmi. This custom has been going on for centuries.

Kali Puja and Lakshmi Puja will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31. It will be followed by Govardhan Puja on November 2 and end with Bhai Dooj on November 3.
