Mohun Bagan Super Giant moved into the semifinal of the Kalinga Super Cup 2025 with an emphatic 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC in the quarters of the competition at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha on Saturday.
Sahal Abdul Samad and Suhail Ahmad Bhat netted for the Mariners before Sreekuttan MS pulled back a consolation strike for the Tuskers. MBSG will face the winners of the clash between FC Goa and Punjab FC in the final-four fixture on April 30.
Abdul Samad opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of the game following a period of domination by the Mariners as they saw the majority of the possession. Samad got on the end of a Salahudheen Adnan ball into the danger area after sidestepping a defender to put it on a plate for the goalscorer to turn it into the net.

From then on, it was all Kerala Blasters, who grew desperate for the equaliser. Noah Sadaoui cut in from the right and took a shot from distance, but he didn’t get enough elevation, and the ball landed straight into the gloves of MBSG goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh.
The Blasters became increasingly dangerous from corners. In the 30th minute, after playing a one-two with Vibin Mohanan, Sadaoui drilled a low cross that was cleared by Dippendu Biswas.
Later, from another corner, Hormipam’s cross-turned-shot almost landed into the top corner, but Dheeraj did well to tip it over.
The ISL champions took a goal lead into the break and managed to double it in the second essay as Suhail found the back of the net in the 51st minute of the game.
MBSG remained in control of the game and looked to hold on to their clean sheet with goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem producing a solid showing for nearly the entirety of the game, before Sreekuttan salvaged a strike for KBFC in second half stoppage time.
