Kamala Harris blasted for using her ‘fake accent’ on Saturday Night Live

Kamala Harris was blasted for using her ‘fake accent’ during her surprise appearance on SNL on Saturday night.

The VP has increasingly faced accusations of using a ‘fake accent’ in recent weeks, but with only days until the 2024 presidential election, she can’t afford to lose any support, especially among black and younger voters both key to any victory.

‘Kamala Harris spent three hours rehearsing for this cringe fest on SNL. Complete with the fake black accent. This is a tough watch. Good Lord,’ one poster wrote.

‘Just hearing Kamala’s fake hood accent lowered my credit score by 50 points,’ added another.

‘Kamala has a new accent, these fake accents would be bad enough, if she was even halfway decent at them, but this is just pathetic, you know it’s bad if I’m embarrassed for her,’ added a third.

While Harris is of Jamaican and Indian descent, she has still been mocked for whipping out a ‘blaccent’ because she changes her voice and speaking pattern depending on the race, class and other demographics of her audience.

Last week the VP was roasted online for using a ‘fake accent’ to preach to a predominantly black audience.

While speaking at a church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, social media users highlighted a point where they said Harris began speaking like a southern Baptist preacher and quoted from the Bible’s book of Psalms.

‘Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. The path may seem hard, the work may seem heavy, but joy cometh in the morning. And church morning is on its way,’ Harris said in a widely-shared clip.

‘Holy smokes. Kamala just whipped out a preacher, MLK-esque accent in a Philadelphia church,’ a pro-Trump account wrote on X. ‘This is the craziest one yet. She is so unbelievably fake.’

Not only are pro-Trump social media accounts saying the accent is made up, but they are also accusing Harris of being a ‘fake’ person.

‘Kamala just unveiled a new accent at a church in Philadelphia. Everything about this woman is fake,’ Libs of TikTok wrote on their X account.

One user on X noted on a 20-second clip of the vice president: ‘Kamala has a new pastor accent which she debuted at a black Philadelphia church.’

Harris has for months faced a barrage of hate from pro-Trump users claiming her accent code-switching is offensive to black voters and a slap in the face to Americans.

In September, Harris faced allegations of using an urban accent to relate to working class voters in Detroit, Michigan.

‘You may not be a union member but you better thank a union member for the five day work week,’ Harris said in a tone of voice atypical of the one she uses in her usual stump speeches.

She went on: ‘You better thank a union member for sick leave. You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time.’

At another point an audience member shouted something about Harris’ future beyond just the 2024 election.

The VP, still employing this new accent, replied with a large smile and laugh before leaning over the podium and saying: ‘Let’s just get through the next 64 days.’

‘New Kamala accent just dropped,’ one user wrote on X at the time.
