Kamala Harris posed for Vogue cover on anniversary of October 7 massacre

Vice President Kamala Harris posed for the cover of Vogue magazine as Israel marked the anniversary of the October 7 massacre.

The democratic presidential nominee, 59, appeared on the October digital issue of the fashion magazine in a Gabriela Hearst suit and Tiffany earrings.

But as the rest of the world marked one year on since Hamas terrorists invaded parts of Israel and killed 1,200 people, while kidnapping another 250, Harris was getting ready for her close-up.

The photoshoot, captured by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, took place between two public appearances that Harris made on Monday.

The style bible gushed that Harris is the ‘candidate for our times’ alongside a long article featuring stories of her rise to the top of the Democratic ticket.

In the vogue article she did speak of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, but gave little away as to how she would end the crisis if elected.

Asked what ‘new element’ she would bring to the table on the conflict, she replied that ‘I can’t anticipate what the circumstances will be four months from now.’

Harris then said that the US should provide a ‘pathway’ for stability, particularly to end Israel’s war in Gaza, even more so than in Lebanon, but provided few details.

Social media users have since attacked the Vice President for conducting the shoot on the anniversary.

One person sarcastically posted: ‘So much more important than recognizing human suffering.’

Another added: ‘Optics and narrative are more important to Democrats than human lives. This is sad.’ One other commented: ‘She’s completely out of touch.’

As part of her way to mark the anniversary of October 7, Harris planted a pomegranate tree with her husband Doug Emhoff.

The tree was planted outside of the VP residence to memorialize ‘the strength and endurance of the Jewish people’ and ‘the horror of October 7’.

She cited the Kaddish, the Jewish prayer in mourning, to talk about ‘our enduring belief in God, even in our darkest moments.’

Harris said she would remain committed to Israel’s security and the release of hostages held by Hamas, naming several of them in her remarks.

She also mentioned a need to to ‘relieve the immense suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza who have experienced so much pain and loss over the year.’

Emhoff spoke after Harris to say ‘this is an incredibly challenging day for Jews around the world, myself included.’

‘Today feels just as raw as it did one year ago,’ he said, describing the attack as ‘seared into our souls.’

The attack sparked a deadly war in Gaza, as Israel moved to root out Hamas’ control over the territory and try to return those taken captive.

Another Iran-backed group, Hezbollah, has fired thousands of rockets at Israeli territory in the same period from Lebanon.

Israel last month expanded a campaign of sabotage and assassination and launched a ground incursion into Lebanon to combat the threat from the group.

Iran, meanwhile, has fired large missile salvos at Israel, most recently a week ago. The US helped Israel shoot them down.

In an interview with CBS´ ’60 Minutes’ that aired Monday night, Harris appeared to avoid answering a question about whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considered ‘a real close ally’.

She said, ‘The better question is: Do we have an important alliance between the American people and the Israeli people? And the answer to that question is yes.’

As well as the photoshoot occurring on the anniversary of October 7, Harris and Vogue have also been slammed for allegedly airbrushing the image.

On social media, one person queried: ‘Why does this look like AI? ‘Her head and hands seem to be floating above the suit like they were superimposed over a stand-in. It’s freaking me out.’

Fans of former First Lady Melania Trump have also reacted angrily to Harris being bestowed with a Vogue cover.

The glamorous First Lady never got a Vogue profile or cover while her husband was president or even upon the recent release of her new memoir.

‘Imagine. Vogue – a now silly, decrepit shell of what it once was – has never put the most glamorous woman in America on its cover, Melania Trump,’ wrote conservative author Pamela Geller.

‘But this heavily photoshopped skank gets an election cover as did Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Jacinda Ardern.’

Harris was put on the cover of Vogue twice, once when she was first elected vice president and now again as she runs for president.
