“Rajadhiraaj: Love Life Leela” at NMACC’s Grand Theatre is set to offer a mesmerizing journey into the divine saga of Shri Krishna, promising an unforgettable theatrical experience.
At the premiere of the highly anticipated musical “Rajadhiraaj: Love Life Leela” at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), Karisma Kapoor praised the show, describing it as an “absolutely spectacular spiritual journey.”
Kapoor expressed her hope for more such productions at NMACC, highlighting theatre’s potential to captivate audiences of all ages and foster an appreciation for the arts.
“Rajadhiraaj: Love Life Leela,” the world’s first mega musical centered on Shri Krishna, promises an extraordinary theatrical experience. This 120-minute production, created by Dhanraj Nathwani, will run daily from August 15 to September 1, 2024, at the Grand Theatre of NMACC.
Nathwani shared his vision for the musical, describing it as a journey of devotion and passion. “Shri Krishna’s life is an endless source of inspiration,” he said. “Through this musical, we aim to convey the beauty, wisdom, and love he embodies, presenting his timeless stories in a way that has never been seen before.”
Executive Producer Bhoomi Nathwani also emphasized the immersive nature of the show. She expressed gratitude to the cast and crew, highlighting their efforts in creating a mesmerizing experience. With over 180 artists involved, the production promises an engaging blend of rich storytelling, stunning visuals, and evocative music.
The musical features lyrics by acclaimed Indian lyricist Prasoon Joshi, known for his contribution to Indian cinema. Directed by Shruti Sharma, a seasoned expert in musical theatre, the show will present Shri Krishna’s divine forms of Shrinathji and Dwarkadheesh together for the first time in a musical play. The narrative spans Krishna’s playful youth in Gokul, his profound wisdom in the Bhagavad Gita, and more.
Adding to the show’s allure is a captivating soundtrack composed by Sachin-Jigar, which merges Western symphonic sounds with Indian classical, Haveli Sangeet, Rajasthani and Gujarati folk, and Hindustani semi-classical music. The production’s visual spectacle is crafted by award-winning Bollywood designer Omung Kumar, transporting viewers to ancient India.
Choreographed by Bertwin D’Souza and Shampa Gopikrishna, the musical features breathtaking dance sequences performed by over 60 dancers. Shampa Gopikrishna, continuing the legacy of her late father, renowned Kathak maestro Natraj Shri Gopikrishna, brings a unique touch to the choreography. Celebrated costume designer Neeta Lulla has created over 1,800 costumes, vividly bringing the divine and mythical characters to life.
