Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has some stunning accessories to her royal jewellery collection. Among the impressive collection of jewels, she has inherited a magnificent choker that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. The choker, valued at a staggering INR 16 crore, is a testament to the enduring legacy of Princess Diana, her elegance, and her royalty. In 1911, the accessory was presented to Queen Mary. Later, the late Queen Elizabeth gifted the extravagant choker as a wedding present to Lady Diana, who married the then heir to the throne, Prince Charles, in 1981.

Now, this exquisite piece has been passed down to Kate, who is truly fond of it. As the princess continues to grace public appearances with her impeccable sartorial choices, she is making sure to adorn this iconic piece and add a touch of royal glamour.

At the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards, the Princess of Wales was channelling the sustainable dress code, wearing a vibrant green off-shoulder gown designed by Solace London. But it was not her gown that stole the limelight; instead, the gorgeous emerald and diamond choker necklace caught everyone’s sight. The special part about the choker is that it belongs to her late mother-in-law, Lady Diana.

This wasn’t it. Lady Diana wore the emerald and diamond choker again for the Gala Dinner in Melbourne. Unfortunately, the choker slipped down, and Canadian diplomat Victor Chapman insisted Diana wear the necklace as a headband.

In 1993, the late Princess of Wales wore it again as a proper choker for a Malaysian state visit. She teamed it with a gorgeous Catherine Walker off-shoulder green dress, which is quite similar to Kate’s recent Earth Shot Prize Awards Gown. For her hairdo, the Princess of Wales chose to drop her tresses down with a side partition with a dark eye makeup look and creamy base. Along with her mother-in-law’s royal emerald choker, she donned emerald drop earrings to finish off the elegant look.

It is worth noting that Kate has subtly embraced many of Princess Diana’s iconic style elements since joining the royal family. From stunning earrings to necklaces and even her engagement ring, the princess often pays tribute to Diana’s timeless fashion. She has also worn the sentimental earrings during the Remembrance Sunday service as a heartfelt tribute to the late queen.
