Keir Starmer’s personal ratings are the worst for any PM for the past four decades, according to analysis.

The Labour leader even outdid the grim numbers recorded by Gordon Brown after 300 days in office.

Political research firm Britain Elects aggregated polling data on premiers since Margaret Thatcher.

It found that when Sir Keir secured his election landslide last July he had a marginally positive score.

However, that honeymoon quickly ended, with the winter fuel allowance cut, tax hikes, a summer of riots, and a donations row all taking their toll.

At the 300 day mark Sir Keir was scoring around minus 33 – marginally below the minus 30 Mr Brown was averaging at the same point.

The former PM did see his numbers plummet after that, while Sir Keir appears to have plateaued.

Boris Johnson and Theresa May were both on plus 18 at this stage, while Tony Blair was on plus 46.

Even Rishi Sunak was only on minus 22.

Liz Truss was not included in the comparison as she was already out of Downing Street.

Sir Keir is struggling to get his government back on track as the economy stalls and his backbenchers looking increasingly restive.

However, fears are mounting that Rachel Reeves will be forced to hike taxes again this Autumn, with her spending plans under huge pressure.
