Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are set to direct and star in the new film, Family Movie, alongside their two children, Travis and Sosie Bacon.
The Footloose actor, 66, and the Closer alum, 59 – who share Travis, 35, and 32-year-old Sosie – will helm the upcoming horror-comedy both in front of and behind the camera, per Variety.Â
The movie – which is being penned by Premature writer Dan Beers – will be produced by Mixed Breed Films with Dark Castle Entertainment’s Norman Golightly.
The premise of the project follows a tight-knit family of moviemakers who suddenly find themselves in a real-life horror film when a body appears on the set of their low-budget slasher.
As the production continues to spiral out of control, the family realizes the only way to save their project is to cover up the murder at all costs.

In a statement, Dark Castle’s Golightly said: ‘There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons.’
‘We can’t wait to bring their unique dynamic to the screen and then wildly turn it on its head for audiences.’Â
Family Movie is currently in its pre-production stages, and a set release date has yet to be announced.Â
While Bacon and Sedgwick are no strangers when it comes to the entertainment industry – neither are their children.Â
Sosie has a number of projects under her belt, and took on a leading role in the 2022 horror film, Smile.Â
The actress also appeared with her mother in the series Closer as well as the Netflix show, 13 Reasons Why.Â
During a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin revealed that he was surprised by his daughter’s choice to follow in both his and Kyra’s acting footsteps.
‘We didn’t know she was really interested after that in pursuing any kind of an acting career,’ he told the outlet in 2022.Â

‘But when she finally, in her early 20s, decided that this is what she wanted to do, she dropped out of college and moved to L.A.’
Bacon added, ‘And really started doing all the right stuff. Pounding the pavement, doing self-tape after self-tape, and studying.’Â
He also opened up about his family’s ‘tradition’ of stepping into the horror genre, and stated, ‘In a weird kind of way, we have a horror tradition in our family. One of my earliest movies was the very first.’
Over 40 years earlier in 1980, Kevin notably starred in Friday The 13th. Â
Sosie has also previously shared her fondness for horror and told Harper’s Bazaar, ‘I also love the way that horror can work out things that are difficult in our society.’
‘Because it almost tends towards the ridiculous and sort of comedy, but it can also have a lot of weight, more weight than comedy.’Â
The star continued, ‘It’s got a dramatic edge, so you can have those moments, and then you can have the ridiculously funny, over-the-top moments.’Â
Kyra has also made appearances in the genre, including the 2012 film Possession and also Villains (2019). Â
Travis Bacon is a musician and has composed for films such as Space Oddity (2022) and Weekend Deadaway (2024), per his official IMDB page.Â

Kevin and Kyra tied the knot back in 1988 – and welcomed Travis in 1989 and Sosie three years later in 1992.Â
