Kim Jones was awarded France’s prestigious Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur at Dior Men’s show on Friday. He received the award from Anna Wintour.
Kim Jones has been associated with Dior since 2018.
At the Paris Fashion Week, British designer Kim Jones presented his latest collection at the Dior Men’s show. The show turned out to be a monumental event for the designer as he was awarded the prestigious Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur. The award is France’s highest civilian decoration and it is a rare occasion when someone who is not from the country wins it.
Kim Jones became a knight as he was presented the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur by Anna Wintour. In a statement, the luxury fashion house said, “This prestigious recognition honours the talent, passion, and commitment of the artistic director of Dior men’s lines.”
Ahead of the show, Kim spoke about the honour. “I was shocked, actually. When I got the letter, I cried. It’s very nice because it’s celebrating your work and achievements. It’s something you never even think you’ll get. I don’t think many foreign people receive it, and I think it’s a real compliment,” said Kim to WWD.
Earlier he was appointed as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire in Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours List in 2020 for his exemplary work in fashion. He has been at Dior for six years designing menswear at the fashion house. Before Dior, he was associated with Fendi. During his time, he has explored the rich history of the brand and his personal interests, including TS Eliot’s The Waste Land and Vanessa Bell’s house Charleston in East Sussex. At the Dior Homme show, Kim took Christian Dior’s mid-50s Ligne H collection and mingled it with elements from Casanova – the 18th-century Italian author known for his multiple relationships with women. Bows, blouses, and exposed collarbones were some of the signature elements in the latest collection.
The Dior Homme show at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week Men’s A/W 2025 was attended by some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment. Celebrities such as Gwendoline Christie and Robert Pattinson graced the event with their presence.
