Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Friday hit back at Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday he warned of “appropriate parliamentary action” following her remarks on the death of Judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya in the Lok Sabha.

Moitra’s comments sparked an uproar in the Lower House, leading to the House being adjourned briefly twice. Shortly after the disruption, the TMC leader posted on X, stating that it would be Rijiju who would face action for “threatening” her.

“And btw all the media outlets who are reporting that Parliament Affairs Minster warned me – it is he who will face action for threatening me! His remarks to be deleted- not mine!,” she wrote in her post.

Moitra’s reference to the death of Judge B.H. Loya, calling it “long before his time,” triggered the uproar. Subsequently, Rijiju accused her of raising a matter already settled by the Supreme Court.

During a debate on the 75 years of the Indian Constitution, Moitra made the remark while criticising the ruling BJP for allegedly targeting institutions and opposition leaders to silence critical voices.
