Kunal Verma, who was seen in the role of Vihaan in the daily soap Jhanak, has quit the show. His departure comes amidst rumours of a time leap in the show which often results in the replacement of the cast. For Kunal, although his stint on the show was brief, he values the experience and lessons he gained along the way.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Kunal Verma stated, “I hardly got time to generate the love, but still, the work I did—I learned. Every day was a learning.” He also noted that since he was on the show for a limited time, he could not bond much with lead stars Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja. Kunal admitted, “I really don’t know because I hardly got to know them. I guess Hiba and Krushal already had a big fan base, so I wasn’t allowed to be their favourite too. But I loved working with each one of them.”
After his departure from Jhanak, Kunal is looking forward to exploring new genres. The actor noted that since he has been a part of several intense projects, he now wants to take a chance with comedy.
Meanwhile, there have been rumours that post-leap, the lead actress Hiba Nawab would also quit the show. Confirming the same, she told Etimes “I am very sad that I will be now exiting the show. Jhanak has been my baby and was a great opportunity to play this role. However, at the end of the day, it is the maker’s vision and story and I am sure a 20-year leap will bring freshness to the show.” She noted how she had been part of Jhanak for the past 15 months, and it was a tough part to play. Shooting in Kashmir and rowing the shikara were especially difficult for Hiba. However, certain reports also suggest that the time leap has been put off.
Jhanak has been one of the most-watched shows since its premiere in 2023. The drama which stars Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja in prominent roles, quickly became a fan favorite due to its intriguing storyline and the performances. Besides Hiba, Krushal, and Kunal Verma, Jhanak features Chandni Sharma, Dolly Sohi, and others in key roles.
