Kyle Sandilands begins renovations on his $3million Glenorie farmhouse following brain aneurysm diagnosis

Kyle Sandilands has started renovations on his $3million mansion in Sydney’s south after being diagnosed with a brain aneurysm.

The 53-year-old radio star’s enormous 70s-era pad in Glenorie, located 43km from the CBD, boasts a impressive eight bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Kyle purchased the 9580sqm palatial estate in April 2022 and has compared it to Elvis Presley’s famed mansion, Graceland.

The shock jock confirmed that construction was underway on the site during a recent episode of KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O show.

‘The renovation has started. We are renovating right now,’ Kyle said, after a listener had spotted him at Glenorie Bakery.

Workers have gutted the original home and the construction site has been fenced off, according to the Daily Telegraph.

According to the publication, the expansive estate has undergone a complete renovation, including a complete redesign of the backyard area.

The previous features, which included a pool, garden, and entertainment deck, have been entirely wiped to accommodate the upgrade.

The radio breakfast host first shared his renovation plans back in May last year.

‘That Graceland looks exactly like the house I own in Glenorie, it’s exactly the same,’ Kyle told listeners on the Kyle & Jackie O show at the time.

However, Kyle’s co-host Jackie appeared unconvinced by his bold comparison to the home of the late King of Rock and Roll.

‘Glenorie looks nothing like Graceland,’ she said.

She went on to back down and admitted she did see a slight resemblance, especially if Kyle was to add more stone work and shutters.

He later revealed he was in the midst of extensive building work, including a total interior demolition and an elaborate white paint job for the façade.

Aussie radio host Kyle has an impressive property portfolio as he also splashed out $13.8million on a mansion in Bellevue Hill in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in 2022.

Spanning four levels and boasting harbour views, the property boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms an outdoor entertaining areas and a plunge pool.

Other lavish amenities include a white marble kitchen, hardwood floors and high ceilings, as well as a spacious wine cellar and elevator access to all four levels.

It comes as Kyle gave fans a health update during The Kyle and Jackie O Show show on Monday, speaking about concerns that were raised over his ’emergency surgery’ being delayed and chatter he was ‘faking the whole thing’.

‘That I haven’t had the emergency surgery isn’t a surprise to anyone who listens to the show properly because I’ve gone to the surgeon, and it’s a strange shape,’ he said.

‘It’s attached to many different arteries or vessels or whatever they are called so it’s not a simple thing to get to,’ the KIIS FM star continued.

‘I’ve made it quite clear to journalists and on the show that it’s more dangerous to go in and get it out right now’.

Kyle said that instead of surgery, his doctors will ‘keep monitoring’ the issue and check his status again in six months.

The media personality shocked listeners when he revealed his diagnosis earlier this month.

‘On Friday, I was told by my medical team – which sounds like I’m already very sick, that I have a brain aneurysm. It requires immediate attention, brain surgery,’ he said at the time.

‘My doctor said if I didn’t get it checked, I would have died. A life of cocaine abuse and partying are not the way to go!’

He then cracked a joke about the show’s lower ratings in Melbourne.

‘If you just tuned in to us after all these years, lap it up. And if you’re in Melbourne… you’re coming to the party too late. You may get your wish. I may be dead,’ he quipped.

Co-host Jackie O Henderson said: ‘Let’s think positive.’

‘That doesn’t work in real life,’ Kyle responded.

The presenter then explained his condition on air.

‘It’s not a blockage. It’s like, imagine your blood vessel is the garden hose, and the hose is weak and it blisters out like a big bubble, like a puncture in it.

‘It’s like a bike tyre with a big bubble – that bubble’s the aneurysm, so it’s not blocked.

‘It’s expanded and if it bursts, (I will become) either a vegetable, in the wheelchair, or dead.’

He revealed his doctor had banned him from doing cocaine, having sex, masturbating, heavy lifting and becoming stressed.

Kyle then revealed the effect the sad news was having on his loved ones.

His wife Tegan Kynaston, 39, who he welcomed son Otto with in 2022, ‘bursts into tears’ every time she sees him since they got the shock news, he revealed.

What is a brain aneurysm?

‘A brain aneurysm — also known as a cerebral aneurysm or intracranial aneurysm — is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain. An aneurysm often looks like a berry hanging on a stem.

Experts think brain aneurysms form and grow because blood flowing through the blood vessel puts pressure on a weak area of the vessel wall. This can increase the size of the brain aneurysm. If the brain aneurysm leaks or ruptures, it causes bleeding in the brain, known as a hemorrhagic stroke.

Most often, a ruptured brain aneurysm occurs in the space between the brain and the thin tissues covering the brain. This type of hemorrhagic stroke is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Brain aneurysms are common. But most brain aneurysms aren’t serious, especially if they’re small. Most brain aneurysms don’t rupture. They usually don’t cause symptoms or cause health problems. In many cases, brain aneurysms are found during tests for other conditions.

However, a ruptured aneurysm quickly becomes life-threatening and requires medical treatment right away.

If a brain aneurysm hasn’t ruptured, treatment may be appropriate in some cases. Treatment of an unruptured brain aneurysm may prevent a rupture in the future.’
