A Los Angeles news station which tweeted out the n-word has claimed the offensive blunder was due to a ‘technical error’.
KTLA apologized for the shocking post, which featured only the one-word slur, seen scrawled across its X account on Friday.
‘KTLA experienced a technical error while adding language filters to our social media accounts, resulting in an offensive word being accidentally shared,’ a post on X read.
‘We are appalled and apologize that this occurred.’
The station was quick to delete the post, but not before it was seen across social media where it prompted outrage.
Many were then left equally unimpressed by the network’s explanation.
‘As a leader in the black community, we do not accept your apology,’ Reverend Ray Cistman wrote.
‘The term was highly offensive and should not have been posted on your platform,’ another person added.
KTLA issued an apology for a ‘technical error’ that resulted in the N-word to be posted on their X social media account

The post was made by the news outlet and quickly removed, but not before screenshots were grabbed and the post featuring the racial slur was spread across X and spurred outrage

‘That’s your excuse? Someone typed the word and hit send, that’s not an error,’ a third person fumed.
The outrageous post was said to have been a result of the network intending to add the offensive word to its profiles list of filtered words, a feature that allows users to mute certain words from its platform.
KTLA said in a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘As KTLA was taking steps to strengthen the language filters on its X account (formerly Twitter), a technical issue resulted in an offensive and prohibited word being accidentally published to the account.
‘We immediately deleted the post and replaced it with an explanation and an apology.
‘KTLA is investigating the exact cause of this incident, and we deeply regret what happened. We again apologize to KTLA’s audience and the greater Los Angeles community.’
However, that explanation was not accepted by viewers, as another angered fan writing: ‘Aside from this obviously not being true – why would a news outlet need language filters on social media accounts?’
‘Na fam. That was no tech error. Not even the same screen for filtration. Try harder. Own it,’ another said.
‘I love the excuse they made lol…language filters c’mon,’ one wrote.
