Robert Lewandowski currently holds the top spot in La Liga’s goal-scoring charts.

Lamine Yamal believes his Barcelona teammate Robert Lewandowski can finish the season as the leading scorer in La Liga. Lewandowski, who switched to the Catalan giants from Bayern Munich two years back, secured the Pichichi Award in the 2022-23 campaign for scoring the most goals in the Spanish league. He had found the back of the net 23 times in his 34 La Liga appearances. The 36-year-old forward has appeared to be in sublime form this season, under new head coach Hansi Flick. Having played nine league matches, he has registered 10 goals while providing two assists.

Robert Lewandowski currently holds the top spot in La Liga’s goal-scoring charts. He may face competition from Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in the later phase of the league. The Real Madrid duo has also been in terrific form this seaspmn. Mbappe has scored five times while his forward partner, Vinicius Junior has netted four goals in the La Liga.

At this moment, Villarreal Ayoze Perez follows Robert Lewandowski on the list, having recorded six goals. Another Barcelona forward, Raphinha and Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso have also scored five times each in this season’s La Liga so far.

Lamine Yamal, however, sees Robert Lewandowski as the top contender for the Pichichi Award this season. “Everything you give Lewandowski, he scores. We’re very happy for him. Hopefully, he ends up as the top scorer,” the Spanish youngster said in an interaction with RNE, according to transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano.

During the conversation, Lamine Yamal also spoke about how Hansi Flick has already won the hearts of the players of his new club. The German manager took over the charge following the departure of Xavi at the end of the last campaign.

“We’re enjoying ourselves a lot this season. We’re happy with Flick’s style. The football is demanding, but in the end, when you press and win the ball back, you control the game. Flick is very close with everyone, whether they play more or less, veterans too,” Lamine Yamal said, via Fabrizio Romano, as per Sportskeeda.

Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal has also been a key figure in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona set-up. With his brilliant footwork and skills, the 17-year-old has already drawn comparisons with club legend Lionel Messi. Yamal has played 11 matches this season across all competitions, recording five goals and as many assists.
