When asked to name the most talented players of the current Barcelona unit, the teenager popped up with the name of the Spanish midfielder and shared some insights about his personal development and his growth in Flick’s setup.

Lamina Yamal continues to hit the headlines with his footballing skills. At the age of 17, the Barcelona winger has already secured some tremendous feats at both the club and international levels. He has been often compared to Lionel Messi– an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner who also graduated from the famed La Masia academy. Amid his unprecedented rise, Yamal was recently asked to name the most talented players of the current Barcelona unit. In response, the teenager quickly mentioned “himself and Pedri.”
The Spaniard also shared some insights about his personal development and his growth in Hansi Flick’s setup. “I’m going step by step and I want to improve my numbers, develop my career and keep winning. Here in Spain, you know how things are and how the press is, but I just focus on myself and my performance, we players only react on the pitch, but I always have fun with my team-mates,” Yamal explained to beIN Sports, as per GOAL.
The youngster also spoke highly of his club teammate Raphinha. The Brazilian faced severe backlash for making scathing remarks about Argentina before facing them in a recent World Cup qualifier.
Despite being one of the key players for Barcelona this season, Raphinha failed to make an impact in the international fixture as Brazil ended up suffering a 4-1 defeat. Yamal, however, wasn’t concerned about his teammate’s performance for the national team.
“I’m happy to have Raphinha on my side, his mentality has improved tremendously, he’s always been an excellent player and he just had to prove it, I’m very happy for him,” Yamal said.
Raphinha has emerged as a top contender for the Ballon d’Or this season, having registered 24 goals and 14 assists so far across all competitions. The Brazilian forward remained sidelined when Barcelona faced Osasuna in their last LaLiga game.
Flick rested Raphinha following the international break to manage his workload. Despite missing the service of some first-team stars, Barcelona notched a commanding 3-0 win against Osasuna to stay at the top of the league table.
