Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz is said to favour a switch to Premier League champions Liverpool over a move to Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich, according to reports.
The 22-year-old German, who is contracted to Leverkusen until 2027, was touted as a replacement for departing Munich legend Thomas Muller. However, Bayern Sporting director Max Eberl, who had cited the club’s desire to rope in Wirtz as one of the reasons for not extending the contract of the World Cup-winning Muller, has reportedly told fans that the midfielder prefers a move to Merseyside.

“I can’t say how matters will proceed with Leverkusen,” Hainer said at a Bayern fest, according to the Munich tabloid Abendzeitung.
Earlier in the month, Wirtz revealed that he was found the idea of a new challenge outside his comfort zone appealing and a move to the PL giants could fit the German’s fancies.
Liverpool ae also said to be close to a move for Leverkusen full-back Jermaine Frimpong as they prepare for life after the departure of home-grown right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who looks primed for a move to Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.
