The untimely demise of One Direction star Liam Payne left a deep void in his fans’ hearts, with thousands still grieving at the moment. Since the singer was laid to rest in the quiet town of Amersham in the UK, many are expected to start visiting his resting place in the churchyard of St. Mary’s. Amid the grief and anguish among fans, fears of robbery have also struck the church authorities. As per latest reports, the authorities fear the robbery of the souvenirs left in the honour of Payne, prompting them to reconsider security arrangements.

“The church authorities are braced for an army of fans who are set to descend on Liam’s final resting place. There is bound to be a lot of interest in the first few weeks and there is a worry that devotees will be tempted to take items left in honor of Liam,” a source told RadarOnline.

The source also added that discussions have been underway for monitoring Liam Payne’s grave round-the-clock for at least the first couple of weeks until things get quiet and are back to normal. “The last thing his grieving family needs is the prospect of grave robbers rearing their ugly heads,” the source continued.

Weeks after Liam Payne passed away at the tender age of 31, he was laid to rest on November 20 in the UK. Among the mourners were his former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Neill Horan and Zayn Malik, followed by his family members, friends and his heartbroken girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Payne’s ex-girlfriend, Girls Aloud member Cheryl, who is also the mother of the singer’s seven-year-old son, was present at the private service. Additionally, the late singer’s close friend James Corden and One Direction co-creator Simon Cowell also marked their attendance at the ceremony, all visibly emotional and heartbroken.

Several pictures from the funeral went viral on social media, showing the simple yet sophisticated arrangements in men in memory of Liam Payne. On October 16, the singer passed away after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires. He sustained severe internal injuries. His postmortem reports later confirmed that the singer was under the influence of alcohol and drugs before his death.
